Privacy Policy
We are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals whose personal information is collected and handled through our websites. Any personally identifiable information (PII) provided through these sites is collected, used, and disclosed in accordance with HIPAA (USA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What is Personally Identifiable
Information?
Personally identifiable information (PII) is
recorded information about an identifiable
individual. PII includes such things as an
individual's name, address, birth date,
e-mail address and phone number. When we
collect your PII we must identify:
- The purpose for collecting the PII,
- The legal authority for collecting it, and
- The contact information of our Privacy Officer who can answer your questions about the collection of that information.
Data Practices
Information Automatically Collected
If you visit our website(s) to browse, read
pages, or download information, we will
gather and store certain information about
the visit. The following information is
automatically collected and stored:
- The Internet Protocol Address and domain name used. The Internet Protocol address is a numerical identifier assigned either to your Internet service provider or directly to your computer. This address can be translated to determine the domain name of your service provider (e.g. comcast.com or rogers.com);
- The type of browser and operating system;
- The date and time of the visit; and
- The web pages or services accessed.
This information is used to assess system performance, improve website functionality, and support website management. We do not use this data to personally identify individuals unless required for an internal investigation or by law enforcement.
Information Collected Directly From
You
PII collected directly from you is handled
under the authority of PIPA. It will only be
used by authorized personnel for the purpose
for which it was originally collected, or
for a use consistent with that purpose,
unless you provide explicit consent for
another use.
We do not disclose your information to other individuals or organizations except as authorized by PIPA.
Providing PII is not required in order to browse or access most website content.
If you believe your PII is being used for purposes other than those originally identified, please contact the Privacy Officer.
What safeguards are in place?
We take reasonable security measures to
protect PII against risks such as
unauthorized access, use, disclosure, or
disposal. These protections are integrated
into system design, implementation, and
operational practices.
No transmission of information is guaranteed to be completely secure. Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, and other factors may compromise data security. You acknowledge and agree to assume this risk when communicating with us or any of our Clients.
How long is information retained?
Retention periods vary depending on the
nature of the service provided. If PII is
used to make a decision that directly
affects you, it will be retained for at
least one year so that you have a reasonable
opportunity to access it.
How can I access and correct
information I submit to a website?
You can review any PII collected about you
by submitting a written information request
to the Privacy
Officer.
Links to other websites
Visitors should be aware our website may
include links to websites operated by other
private businesses, government agencies, and
non-profit organizations. When you click a
link to visit another site, this Privacy
Policy will not apply, however, you may be
subject to the Privacy Policy of that new
site, if one exists. We are
not responsible for the privacy practices or
content of external websites.
Who
to contact for more information about this
privacy policy
Any questions, concerns or complaints
regarding this Privacy Policy must be
directed to the Privacy Officer. If your
complaint is not resolved to your
satisfaction the PIPA provides a mechanism
for independent review by contacting the
Information and Privacy Commissioner of
British Columbia.
